Saturday March 23, 2024, at Molley Chomper Cidery and Wine Bar, 12 pm.
We can’t wait to see you on the 23rd for our annual syrup release! We will have all of our syrup available for purchase at this event, from our early, golden syrup across the spectrum to our red-amber, late season syrup. During the season, the color and flavor of the syrup changes daily, and our blonde, early syrup gradually shifts to the dark, rich syrup with a robust flavor that so many of you love best. If you want to try it all, we will be happy to mix-and-match bottles from different dates of the season, so long as supplies last. We will also offer taste testing so you can sample the shifting flavors of the season.
Sales of syrup will begin at noon sharp on the 23rd. This is also when Molley Chomper opens for business that day. In addition to their usual array of inspiring ciders, they will be featuring a “Lansing Flight” of four ciders that incorporate local fruit and other special ingredients from the Lansing area, one of which being the “Waterfall Farm Maple” cider. Additionally, the Lansing Flight includes ciders made with blueberries from Old Orchard Creek Farm, “Carpenter Hill Raspberry Cider,” as well as their locally sourced “Honey Lavender Cider.” They’ll have other great offerings on tap and by the bottle as well.
If you haven’t already been to Lansing, NC, get ready to fall in love. It’s a cute little brick town built in the era of the Virginia Creeper Railway. At Old Orchard Creek General Store you will find coffee, pastries, books and friends. Next door, you can get tasty take-out pizza and salads at Pie On The Mountain to bring over to Molley Chomper and eat while you sample ciders. Also, the Lansing Creeper Trail Park has walking paths and trails, a half dozen swimming holes (extra point for the polar plungers in the group!) and a dog park. There are also some cute shops to check out on the main street. So whether you’re local, or thinking of coming from out of town, come see us and make a day of it!
Syrup will be available on a first come, first served basis. Our syrup comes in 8 oz bottles for $18/each, and case of twelve bottles is $216. We will take cash, checks, and cards. Checks payable to Waterfall Farm.
We know that some folks left this event empty-handed last year as we sold out of syrup with people still waiting in line. We felt really bad about this!! For that reason we are making a few changes this year in an effort to be sure that everyone who comes to the event who wants syrup will have a chance to purchase some. In particular, we will be limiting each person to a maximum purchase of one case of syrup. Also, if we get down to the last few cases of syrup, with people still in line we will be further limiting sales with the hope that everyone can go home with some of our rare and wonderful syrup. Thus, fortune favors those that come early, but again, we will not start selling syrup til noon. Conversely, if we get down to the end of the sale and still have syrup left, we will open up sales of additional bottles/cases to those who hope to go home with more than a case.
If, (if!) we have any syrup remaining after the event at Molley Chomper, we will have an online-release of the remaining syrup the following day, Sunday, March 24th at 2 pm on our website.
Should we end up with some crude weather on the 23rd, we have a rain date for the following Saturday, March 24th. We’ll be sure to let you know of any changes in our newsletter and on our website.
We hope to see you there!!
